Opteka 67mm Close-Up Set (+1, +2, and +4) with 10x Macro Lens

Review Opteka 67mm Close-Up Set (+1, +2, and +4) with 10x Macro Lens

Buy Cheap Opteka 67mm Close-Up Set (+1, +2, and +4) with 10x Macro Lens From Here Now!

Cameras fitted with normal lenses do not permit us to move closer than a certain minimum distance from the object being photographed. The Close-Up lens, which is simply mounted in the front of our normal taking lens, permits the taking of close-ups and also makes possible the photography of details which would be quite impossible without using the Close-Up lens.
The easy to use solution for getting extra close. These lenses enable you to get much closer than the minimum focus of the standard camera lens - as close as 4 inches from the subject. Ideal for cataloging small items and focusing on details.

 "buy a real macro" 2009-10-17
By B. Stark
although it was only $20, it was basically a waste. My lens wont focus with these macro filters on. Had to switch it to manual focus which is terrible. I know its not my lens's fault, I have a pro-lens! Not even sure what the issue is but it doesn't work... better off saving your $20 and waiting till you have enough for a real macro.

When I recieved this it was already broken but after some doing I was able to screw the inner ring and glass back into place. I have to be careful though as it still wants to fall out. You get some interesting results with these lenses but I would suggest just going out and buying a real macro lens.

"+4 is the best part" 2009-07-02
By Leonardo Strac
I have D90 and 18-105 lens. This kit is quite useful if you don't have macro lens. +4 is the sweet spot, and +10 is bad out of center, but good enough for playing. I see no point in using +1 and +2 parts of a package.

 "Good Quality Filters" 2009-04-30
By Andrew Martin
I bought these filters for my DSLR because I wanted to be able to do macro photography without spending hundreds on a macro lens. I've been impressed with the quality of the filters as well as the quality of the photos. The only downside I can see is there is a limited DOF as expected so you have to be patient to get everything exactly in focus sometimes. Also, you may notice some "tunnel vision" depending on the combination of filters and your zoom, but this can be easily cropped out in post-processing

"Opteka 72mm collapsible rubber lens hood" 2010-02-22
By J. Sayson (Vancouver, BC CANADA)
Excellent protection for lens. Good construction, and easy to use. Collapses easily, and offers good bumper protection for a long lens. Can extend part way for use on wider angle lenses. Using this on an 18-250 lens, and it works great. Caution on not extending the lens hood fully when in wide angle mode, as lens hood is long and infringes into the frame.

"Perfect and Easy to use!" 2009-11-24
By A. Lopetrone (NY)
This is made out of real thick rubber and it works perfectly. I love how it easily fits into my camera bag without having to remove it from the lens. I also like how in crowded situations, it takes a bump and bounces back... no harm to the lens or camera. Well worth the price. Only down side is you must pay attention when adding your lens cap to make sure it's on well. Otherwise, it's all positive... looks and works GREAT!

"There's too much rubber under this hood" 2009-10-26
By Odiseus (Middle East)
This Opteka 72mm Screw-in Collapsible Rubber Lens Hood sounds like a good idea - as a replacement for the more solid original Nikon lens hood. However it is quite a disappointing product. While as a stand-alone object it is rather well made, it does not function well enough as a lens hood. It tends to slip out of the lens; with Nikon's 18-200mm lens it leads to vignetting (even when it is fully collapsed) - and this is usually not always visible through the lens; this may occur with a certain zoom length, but I have not systematically researched this; lastly when the camera sits on the table the rubber gets squashed and then when you come to use the camera - the hood does not form a regular circle - perhaps contributing to the vignetting effect. I am back to the original hood.

Nice product. Does what it is supposed to do. I like the fact that it is collapsible and does provide some protection to the lens when collapsed or open.

"Cool thing that does it's job great" 2009-08-08
By Suzie Shopper
This lens hood is so much better than the old, hard kind that take up way too much space in the carrier and don't get out of the way when they are not needed. This is a nifty improvement on the original.

Opteka HD² 58mm R72 720nm Infrared X-Ray IR Filter

Review Opteka HD² 58mm R72 720nm Infrared X-Ray IR Filter

Buy Cheap Opteka HD² 58mm R72 720nm Infrared X-Ray IR Filter From Here Now!

Opteka specializes in manufacturing special optical devices for the past several years, would like to take this opportunity to introduce a newly developed product called the "HD² Infrared X-Ray Effect See-Through Multi-Coated Filter". This filter makes it possible for you to see images that are normally invisible to the human eye. It sounds like science-fiction but it isn't; this fantastic new product has been developed using the most highly advanced optical technologies available. This filter will filter out 99% of light seen by the naked eye only allowing infrared light through so that technically the naked eye can see 100% black when the filter is in place. Multi-coating prevents light reflection, ghost light...etc, making images clearer and sharper. On your digital camcorder, turn the "Nightshot" function on - the naked eye cannot pick up the high contrast black, so with the infrared filter and Nightshot combination, for example, it will help you see in the images provided, that we 'accidentally' spilt some permanent ink on this document and the text is now impossible to read. However, when we attached the filter to our Sony 'TR250PK' camcorder, the writing is clearly legible through the ink - thus the x-ray effect! You will be amazed with the power if you take the time to experiment and experience its capabilities for yourself. If you already have a digital camcorder with the Nightshot feature and are interested in experimenting with the X-Ray effect, this is by far the least expensive method, giving you the results you are looking for. Just screw on the filter, switch on the 'Night' feature, and you are ready to go!

"Great glass for the price" 2010-02-14

 "Works with Kodak Z812IS" 2009-06-04
By Peter D. Schoonmaker
This filter will work with the Kodak Z812IS camera with the filter and lens (52mm Lens / Filter Adapter for Kodak EasyShare Z612, Z712, Z812, Z1012, & Z8612 IS Digital Camera) adapter. To take pictures with it you will need to either adjust the camera settings through the manual mode, or simply set the camera to low ISO mode and turn the flash off. For best results I also recommend setting the camera to black and white instead of color as not doing so will generate a purplish image.

As advertised, this filter will filter out long distance hazes and take stunning landscape pictures. Combine this filter with one of the Opteka HD2 telephoto lenses (I use this one Opteka 2.2x HD² Telephoto Lens for Kodak EasyShare Z612, Z712, Z812, Z1012, & Z8612 IS Digital Camera) for AMAZING results.

Depending on your camera, it may take a couple of days for you to figure out how to configure the camera to use this. Some research on web forums will help, but the best teacher is experience. Get out there and start snappin' pics.

 "Great IR Filter" 2009-02-23
By SarCzar (Colorado Springs, CO USA)
So, regular photography getting a little boring? Want a different perspective? This IR filter will help you with that. Here's the rub. The IR filter blocks all light except the 720nm band. So? Aim your camera BEFORE you attach the filter! Great photos are waiting!

"Not recommended for Canon PowerShot S5 IS " 2009-01-04

If there was a zero star, I would have rate this product minus zero. The impression given was that this product works well with the canon powershot series cameras. Lie! Lie! Lie!

Poor performance with Canon PowerShot S5 IS! Hence, not recommended.

"Only Used For a Few Weeks" 2008-10-30
By L. Ewert (Marysville, Wa USA)
I used this product for a few weeks before dropping it into the Grand Canyon. Better to drop a filter then my camera=0)

I have a Canon Rebel XTI and used shutter speeds from 10 sec. up to 3 min.

I got some hot spots with my 28-90mm, but none with my 80-300mm.

I will end up ordering another one. I really enjoyed playing with it and thought the results were great.
